65 PEEL | HONG KONG'S COOLEST BAR | STEPHANIE SO

One simply does not say no to happy hour drinks. A while ago my friend and I ventured into the ever so hipster Peel Street and went into this beer bar, translated into 'so fucking good' in Chinese and boy, let me tell you, it is fucking good. Located in Soho, what 65 Peel/ Ho Lun Jeng offers is not only 12 local brews on tap plus craft beers from Japan, Taiwan, Canada and so forth, but also top-notch bar foods (scroll down!) and extremely cool interiors-- 'industrial chic', shall we say?

Bar foods and their bite-sized portions meant that we were able to try a lot without sacrificing our waistlines. I would say though, I left the place prettyyyyy full. Here we have the Snow Crab Cake, Lobster roll, Fried chicken and beer flight (selection of 4 beers of your choice). Their lobster roll and fried chicken were divine and a must-have.

ZAHA HADID EXHIBITION IN HONG KONG | "THERE SHOULD BE NO END TO EXPERIMENTATION" | STEPHANIE SO

I recently went to visit the ZAHA HADID: There Should Be No End To Experimentation exhibition in ArtisTree, Hong Kong. During the course of these few days, I have already gone to 4 major art exhibitions in Hong Kong, and I don't think I have ever seen this much art during such a short amount of time in my life, ever before! Hong Kong Art Month only happens once a year and to be frank, it's the only time when art or fashion enthusiasts come out and gather together, so it's all worth it in the end.

This exhibition is the largest to date, featuring early paintings by Zaha, an architectural pioneer, and visionary. I went into the exhibition speechless and left even more speechless. To be able to see Zaha's work and creative process in real life was truly an amazing experience. I especially loved seeing Zaha's sketchbooks; these first initial creative process felt so raw and personal. Not to mention the VR experience-- it felt like I was living in Zaha's vision and I was absolutely blown away.

This exhibition is free of charge and is opened from Mar 17 - Apr 6, 2017, at Artistree, Taikooplace. The opening hours from now on is 10:00am-21:00pm.

ART CENTRAL 2016 | HONG KONG ART MONTH | STEPHANIE SO

Definitely a long overdue post on this blog and my visit to Art Central:

So, let's start with a bit of a life update. Life is ok, good, as usual. I finished my exams and officially graduated from high secondary school. It's been about 2 weeks but I don't think everything has really sunk in. The fact that I have left a place where I spent 5 years studying abroad is a bit strange; I think everything happened a bit too fast in the midst of exams, packing and writing thank you cards/ letters.

Anyways, as I am typing this post I am currently in Osaka, Japan, starting my very first summer holiday trip. I've only been to Japan once and never been to Osaka so this trip is definitely something to remember. I have quite a lot of content prepared and will be on its way to this blog in the coming few weeks! I will be updating this blog more frequently now since it's the Summer holiday so keep your eyes peeled!

Life update checked. Onto another topic.

I've always wanted to visit Art Basel/ Central (just to see what it's about) but they always happened during dates where I was not in Hong Kong. This year, however, I was on time to make it to both of the events so of course, I was very excited. I decided to go to Art Central instead - it was easier to get tickets plus they had plenty of activities going on. Definitely worth a go!

FABRIC AND TRIMMINGS MARKET IN HONG KONG | SHAM SHUI PO | STEPHANIE SO

For everyone who's into sewing, haberdashery, garment making and DIY projects, Sham Shui Po is your go-to place. Not only can you buy yards and yards of fabrics, trimmings and beads, but it is also great if you are on a hunt for vintage clothing, electronics and random bits and pieces. As a Fashion student, I frequent this area often to source for materials I need for my next project! I usually spend a good few hours here, tracking down for the best selection and prices. (depending on how much you're buying, you can sometimes bargain too!)

HONG KONG CAFE HOPPING | TEAKHA SHEUNG WAN | STEPHANIE SO

There are plenty of good, hidden cafes and coffee shops in Hong Kong. However, I find myself returning to Teakha over and over again because they are just that good, and honestly, not that hidden at all if you are willing to venture more into the Sheung Wan area! This time, we opted for their outdoor seating and picked their infamous green tea cheese cake, accompanied by a refreshing hibiscus tea.

TEA - KHA | HONG KONG HIDDEN CAFE | STEPHANIE SO

Hong Kong's summer heatwave calls for ice-cold drinks and treats. Teakha is one of my favourite places to visit whenever I'm around the neighbourhood. They serve a good range of drinks and their home-made cakes and savoury goods are absolutely divine- the perfect cure for a sweltering, hot day. If you are visiting, be sure to explore around Hollywood Road and PMQ, too! There are a bunch of vintage shops, local boutiques and coffee shops that are worth having a look.

We opted for a pineapple bun (Hong Kong's local delicacy) stuffed with scrambled eggs, shredded pork floss, chopped tomatoes and onions. An interesting and unconventional combo! We also got a cold tea each.
